Dentures in Fremont, NE

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are prostheses made of artificial teeth and gums used to replace missing teeth, assist with chewing and speaking, and restore the smile. Patients who aren’t eligible for dental implants can usually qualify for dentures, which are much cheaper, less invasive, and less time-consuming.Dentures enable you to replace a few teeth or all of the teeth in the mouth, which cannot be done with individual implants. If you have missing teeth which are making it more difficult to feel confident in your smile, chew, or speak, contact us at Fremont Family Dentistry today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Adam Lamprecht.

How It Works: The Denture Placement Process

Consultation

Dr. Lamprecht will examine your mouth and take x-rays to determine if any teeth can be saved and what type of dentures you need.

Extractions

In preparation for full dentures, all of your teeth will be extracted. It takes about 2-3 months for the gums to fully heal. In the meantime, we will give you an immediate temporary denture to restore your teeth until your official dentures are ready and your gums are healed.

Impressions

Impressions are taken of your mouth along with a jaw record and other details of how your bite fits together and sent to the dental lab that fabricates your custom-fit dentures.

Try-In

A trial fitting will be scheduled to test if any adjustments need to be made to the dentures. They may need adjustments multiple times to get them right.

Fitting

Once your dentures fit comfortably without any need for further adjustments, we will have a final denture fitting at our Fremont practice and you’ll leave with your new set of teeth.

Full Dentures

A full denture replaces all of the teeth in the mouth or at least an entire arch of teeth. This requires the extraction of your remaining natural teeth before we can have you fitted for your denture. Your gums will need 8-12 weeks to heal and you will be given a temporary denture at our Fremont office to wear until your official ones are fabricated.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture is like a removable dental bridge. It replaces 1 or a few missing teeth in the mouth when a patient still has the majority of the teeth left. Unlike a bridge, it can fill in spaces on opposite sides of the mouth. Attached through a metal-wire framework, they hook onto the natural teeth in the mouth through the use of metal clasps.
